JEFFREY P. SWEETLAND
Jeffrey P. Sweetland received his B.A. from Dartmouth College in 1968 and his J.D. summa cum laude from the University of Mississippi in 1984. Mr. Sweetland served in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1971. Prior to law school, he worked in the legal department of the United Farm Workers, AFL-CIO, in California and on a pulpwood cutters' organizing project in Mississippi. Following law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Elbert P. Tuttle of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit in Atlanta, Georgia, and on the organizing staff of the AFL-CIO Industrial Union Department in Georgia. He then practiced law in Atlanta for four years before moving to Milwaukee in 1990. He has been a member of Hawks Quindel, S.C. and its predecessors, Shneidman Myers and Shneidman Hawks & Ehlke, S.C., since 1991.
Mr. Sweetland is a contributing author of Wisconsin Employment Law, a three-volume treatise published by the State Bar of Wisconsin. He is a member of the State Bars of Wisconsin, Mississippi, and Georgia and was a labor-side director of the Wisconsin State Bar Labor and Employment Law Section from 1994 to 1997. He has also been listed in The Best Lawyers in America for Labor and Employment Law since 2002.
