On November 7, 2012, Judge Conley of the United States District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin granted final approval of the class action settlement in the matter of Draper v. Captel, Inc., Case No. 11-cv-535 (W.D. Wis). The settlement provides payment of back overtime wages and liquidated damages for approximately 3,000 captioning assistants working at Captel during the past two years. Draper, on behalf of the class of captioning assistants, alleged that Captel’s time clock rounding policy deprived him and his coworkers of payment for time spent working. If you worked more than 60 shifts at Captel during the past two years, and you did not exclude yourself from the settlement, you will be receiving payment from the settlement shortly.
