With Atty. Kathy Charlton
Hawks Quindel S.C, Milwaukee, WI
If you’re involved in employment law, it’s possible you’ve crossed paths with Atty. Kathy Charlton, State Bar of Wisconsin PINNACLE® co-author of Wisconsin Employment Law. Kathy recently answered a few questions about her 20+ years of writing for PINNACLE.
What inspired you to write for PINNACLE?
I wanted to be a part of the effort to provide high-quality resources for Wisconsin lawyers across the state.
If you could have dinner with any author, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Wallace Stegner, since he is my favorite author.
Is being a writer a gift or a curse?
A gift, although I would not consider myself a writer. I view a writer as someone who has the talent to move people with their writing. I write for professional purposes only.
How do you manage deadlines and priorities?
I treat every deadline as if it were court imposed. I also have breakfast with just myself at least every other week – that’s my time to prioritize my work deadlines and professional goals.
Where is your favorite place to write?
Near any body of water.
What is one of your pet peeves?
I have not entirely eliminated the word “that” from my vocabulary.
Do you have any advice for other authors?
Make time to write even if you don’t think you have the time.
Kathy Charlton also frequently authors blogs on a variety of employment and family law topics which appear on the Hawks Quindel website.
