Attorney Summer Murshid will present at the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) Attorney Conference on April 25, 2013 in Baltimore, Maryland. Her presentation will focus on Constitutional privacy and First Amendment rights of public employees with an emphasis on the intersection of those rights and social media. Specifically, she will address the question of whether public employees’ social media postings can be the basis for discipline or termination and to what extent, if any, the Constitution or other state laws can protect employees from such discipline or termination. Attorney Murshid presented on a similar issue in November 2012 at the Milwaukee Bar Association.
