Attorney Timothy Hawks participated in drafting the State’s newly enacted Higher Education Labor Relations Act which extends collective bargaining rights to faculty and staff employed by the University of Wisconsin System. The law culminates nearly 30 years of work by his client AFT-Wisconsin and its affiliates The Association of University of Wisconsin Professionals and United Faculty and Academic Staff. Mr. Hawks will address this development in the law at the annual Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission Public Sector Labor Law Conference on April 29, 2010 at the Alliance Center in Madison. He also recently drafted reforms to Chapter 62 and Section 111.70 to require Cities, Villages and Towns to bargain with unions of police officers and firefighters with regard procedures to review discipline discharge decisions adversely affecting their members.
