Hawks Quindel, S.C. recently prevailed in getting Social Security disability benefits approved for a young claimant who has been unable to work since 2018 due primarily to Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (“PPPD”). PPPD is a vestibular disorder that causes bouts of dizziness exacerbated by movement, reading, or being in a visually complex environment.[1] Despite first being identified by German neurologists in 1986, the World Health Organization did not add PPPD to its draft list of diagnoses in the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11) until 2015.[2]
The claimant had previously applied for disability benefits and been denied by an administrative law judge for the Social Security Administration before hiring Hawks Quindel to assist on a second application. After a second hearing, the Social Security Administration approved the claim in its entirety and awarded back and ongoing benefits.
