Attorney Kuettel’s worker’s compensation practice focuses on ensuring people injured on the job receive strong legal representation. Attorney Kuettel’s wage and hour law practice focuses on fighting for the compensation due when employees have been unfairly deprived of their wages. Attorney Kuettel ensures employers comply with federal and state law regarding the payment of wages, and she advocates on the behalf of her clients to obtain lost wages when these laws have been violated. Vanessa is admitted to practice in the State of Wisconsin and in federal court in the Western District of Wisconsin.
Attorney Kuettel was a member of the Board of Directors for the Day by Day Warming Shelter in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She currently volunteers with a legal assistance clinic in Madison, Wisconsin. Attorney Kuettel is a member of the State Bar of Wisconsin and the Dane County Bar Association.
Attorney Kuettel has represented clients in cases before Wisconsin Circuit Courts and the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. She has also represented clients at administrative hearings with the Wisconsin Division of Hearings and Appeals and the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development, and has engaged in negotiations on behalf of her clients.
Attorney Kuettel joined Hawks Quindel in 2018. Prior to joining the firm, Attorney Kuettel worked as a staff attorney with Legal Action of Wisconsin in their Oshkosh Office, where she practiced within the areas of landlord tenant law, unemployment insurance, and government and public benefits.
In addition to representing clients in court and administrative hearings, Attorney Kuettel has advocated for her clients by reviewing proposed legislation that was introduced in the Wisconsin Legislature and assessing the likely impact on her clients. She has testified in front of the Wisconsin Legislature Joint Committee on Finance, the Committee on Public Benefit Reform, and the Committee on Housing and Real Estate. Attorney Kuettel has also testified at a public hearing held by and submitted written comments to the Department of Health Services concerning the likely impact of proposed administrative rules on her clients.
Attorney Kuettel has aided in training other attorneys around the state by teaching two continuing legal education seminars through Legal Action of Wisconsin’s Volunteer Lawyer’s Project. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School with pro bono distinction, and was inducted into the Pro Bono Society. She was a recipient of the Advanced Opportunity Fellowship, and was a semifinalist in the Best Brief Competition.
Attorney Kuettel graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 2014. During law school she was a Senior Articles Editor on the Wisconsin International Law Journal. She also worked as a patient advocate with the Center of Patient Partnerships, where she advocated for individuals’ rights within the healthcare and insurance systems. Attorney Kuettel received her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Stout, where she graduated summa cum laude.
