“If something can’t be fixed, what do we build instead?" – Mariame Kaba
Lena Yeakey is an associate attorney in Hawks Quindel’s Madison office, where she represents workers in matters involving worker’s compensation and short- and long-term disability benefits. She has dedicated her career to advocating for workers to get what they’re owed, and enjoys collaborating with clients to craft compelling narratives in their cases. Attorney Yeakey is communicative, empathetic, and diligent; she works hard to achieve the best outcome for her clients. Outside of her practice, Attorney Yeakey spends her time hiking, birdwatching, knitting, and attempting complicated baked goods.
Madison Disability Benefits Attorney
Employment benefits, like disability insurance and pensions, are critical supports for sick, injured, or disabled workers. But too often, insurance companies choose their own profits over the needs of those they insure. Attorney Yeakey advocates for workers who have been denied benefits by their short- or long-term disability insurance company, helping clients from the application stage, through the administrative appeals process, and to litigation in state or federal court.
Madison Worker’s Compensation Attorney
A denial from a worker’s compensation insurance company after you’re hurt on the job can literally feel like adding insult to injury. Attorney Yeakey is a compassionate and committed advocate for injured workers in this stressful situation, working to help clients obtain the benefits they need to support their recovery and adaptation after a work injury.
Experience
Attorney Yeakey brings years of legal and practical experience to serve and advocate for her clients. She joined Hawks Quindel as a part-time law clerk during her second and third years of law school. While in law school, Attorney Yeakey also participated in the Neighborhood Law Clinic, defending low-income renters in eviction cases; the Unemployment Appeals Clinic, representing claimants in administrative appeal hearings; and an externship with the Labor and Industry Review Commission. Prior to law school, she spent several years as a paralegal in a legal nonprofit in Baltimore, Maryland, helping to represent low-wage workers in a variety of employment law disputes.
