Jessa Victor joined Hawks Quindel’s Madison office as an associate attorney in 2018. She specializes in employee benefits, and short and long term disability insurance cases. Attorney Victor values the importance of a client-focused practice. In addition to keeping clients informed, she is attentive to their input so as to ensure they are not passive observers in their own cases.
As a short and long term disability insurance attorney, Attorney Victor advocates for disabled workers who have been denied benefits by their employer-sponsored disability insurance provider. Additionally, as someone who has experienced the effects of disability in her own family, she understands the need for compassionate representation during such challenging times. Attorney Victor also represents individuals with claims for benefits in connection with their employer-sponsored retirement, health insurance, or life insurance plans.
When not at work, Attorney Victor is an outdoors enthusiast and elite runner. She competed at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the Marathon, and is an experienced ultra marathoner. She also enjoys hiking the Ice Age National Scenic Trail, exploring Dane County’s farmers’ markets, and visiting the Aldo Leopold Nature Center.
Since joining Hawks Quindel in 2018, Attorney Victor has successfully secured clients’ benefits from major insurance companies such as The Hartford, Cigna, and Unum. She also has extensive experience representing clients in short and long term disability insurance claims, based on disabilities due to mental health conditions.
Attorney Victor has represented clients in Wisconsin Circuit Courts, the Wisconsin Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Eastern and Western District of Wisconsin. She is a member of the Dane County Bar Association and the Legal Association of Women, and serves on the board of directors of Dane County’s chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
Attorney Victor received her undergraduate degree in Social Welfare and Justice from Marquette University, where she also competed as a Division I athlete in Track & Field and Cross County, earning a seat on the Big East Conference’s All-Academic Team. During her undergraduate education, Attorney Victor also studied social policy and grassroots community development at the University of the Western Cape’s Institute for Social Development in Cape Town, South Africa.
Attorney Victor earned her law degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2016. During law school, she served as a Senior Managing Articles Editor for the Wisconsin Journal of Law, Gender & Society. She also worked for the Family Law Project at the University of Wisconsin’s Frank J. Remington Center, representing incarcerated clients in a wide range of family law matters. Attorney Victor received several honors throughout her law school career, including the John J. Walsh Scholarship, and the Women’s Law Student Association Scholarship.
