Attorney Jeffrey Sweetland has drafted a handbook detailing the rights of Wisconsin workers under the federal and Wisconsin Family Medical Leave Acts (FMLAs). The FMLAs provide that eligible employees may take protected time off from work for the birth or adoption of a child, to care for a family member, or if they suffer from a serious health condition. There are differences between the two FMLAs. The handbook focuses on the differences between them, to help employees select the one that will provide them with the “greater benefit” in their particular situation.
