A recent Department of Labor Proposal may allow home health care workers to receive time and a half pay for overtime hours worked. Currently, such workers are exempt from overtime pay because they have been classified as “companions,” similar to babysitters. Under the proposed regulation, home health care workers would be paid for the long hours and difficult work they perform.
