On October 26, 2012, AFSCME, Local 1752-A (Marinette County Professional Employees Union) filed a motion in Marinette County Circuit Court requesting that the Court confirm an Arbitration Award that extended Union’s collective bargaining agreement with Marinette County through 2012. In that Award, the Arbitrator determined that the 2009-2011 collective bargaining agreement between Marinette County and the Union automatically renewed for calendar year 2012 pursuant to its terms, and was unaffected by Act 10. Marinette County also filed a motion with the Court, seeking to vacate or modify the Award. On May 24, 2013, the Court granted the Union’s motion to confirm the Award and denied the County’s motion to vacate the Award, finding that the Arbitrator had not exceeded her authority and had properly found that Act 10 did not prevent the extension of the parties’ collective bargaining agreement. Attorneys Aaron Halstead and Colin Good represented the Union.
